Our Story

UNCLE Credit Union marks a major milestone this year celebrating 65 years as a trusted financial services provider that exists to serve its members. Since it’s inception, UNCLE has thrived in its mission of promotion the mutual financial well-being of its members while strengthening the community at large. By staying grounded in a strong sense of community spirit, cooperation and shared purpose, UNCLE continues to prosper and grow for the benefit of its members.

65 years ago, four employees of what is now known as Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory founded the Radiation Laboratory Livermore Credit Union to provide financial services for the entire lab community. In 1988, the name was changed to UNCLE which stands for University of California Livermore Employees. During this time, UNCLE also became a community-based credit union by extending membership to anyone who lives, works, worships, or attends school in four Northern California counties.

As times have changed, UNCLE’s number one priority has never shifted, providing exception service in helping its members reach their financial goals. With financial center locations in Livermore, Pleasanton, Tracy and Stockton, UNCLE has grown their community footprint to offer added convenience to it’s ever-growing membership.

With a commitment to People Helping People, UNCLE has a proud history of being a supporting contributor to local charitable and non-profit organizations and has grown to serve over 31,000 members today. By working cohesively towards common goals, UNCLE continues to celebrate important achievements that make lasting value for UNCLE Credit Union and its members.
